The masthead for this magazine is obviously 'Spin'. The colours used for the masthead are red and white. The text is written in white and the background is red. The letters are written in capital letters, this shows the importance of the masthead as it is also the logo for the institution. The text is rather simple, its not swirly or have a design coming off of the letters, this shows the target audience for the website and the magazine may be young adults who are just into there music.
The layout of the front page is rather simple but rather stuffed. Although its fairly easy to get around there may be too much information in one small space. Many 18 to 24 year olds there lives may be like this especially if they live at uni or share a small flat with other people there age. Just under the masthead there are a number of headings. These are to direct people to other areas of the page. Along the left hand side there are also headings but they are for another purpose. These are more for news and gossip on new music, concerts/gigs/festivals and into the lives of the artists. Underneath the titles at the top of the page there is a search bar and also somewhere were you can connect to other social networking sites, facebook and twitter are the sites that you can like or follow this page and also talk to people who have the same interests as you.
The first thing I see when I reach the home page of spin is the colour scheme. Red, black and white. apart from the images these are the only images which are featured on this website. These colours suggests that the magazine is targeted at people aged 18 to 25 who listen to rock, punk and metal. The headings for different sections of the website are all in wight with a black background, this makes them stand out and so people reading can easily choose were they want to go. The colours match the genre of music. These dull colours make the audience think of this music. with punk the red is significant, punk is dull and dark colours with the odd bit of bright colour. The font is very the same, it follows the same colour scheme so it don't look out of place and its simple, there is just plain text with a bit of colour, nothing fancy like swirls or lines coming off the text.
The homepage has a main image located in the center of the page and draws attention strait away. There are other images located around the page but are not seen as quickly as this as they are small, less important and you have to look around for them. The main image is a large crowd of people cheering on man singing on stage. Its inside a tent so this suggests it may be at a music concert or gig. This is what it is as just underneath the image there is a hyperlink which takes you to a page which tells you about a concert thing that went on over 2 weekends.
